Separated by Distance, Together as a Community!

This past week teachers began implementing online learning and we are grateful to our families for their patience as we continue to familiarize ourselves with the online learning environments be used and we iron-out any kinks as we go.  We also thank the families in our community that have requested technology or access to their child’s technology which is stored in the school and have been patiently awaiting for the technology deployment, which will be occurring in the week ahead.

While our current learning at home necessitates that we are at a distance from one another, we nonetheless want to build a positive climate for learning in our school community.  And we need your help!

BGPSEveryone in the community has now been deputized reporters of positive and uplifting news items for our daily announcements!

Please help out BGPS (… the most trusted name in school news!)  If you’d like to contribute items for our daily video announcements, we can accept text stories, photos and short videos at  Here are some possibilities:

  • Send in photos of your child’s ‘learn at home’ work space … and better still, photos of your child learning at home,
  • If your child has any upcoming milestones (e.g. birthday) send us a celebratory photo,
  • If your child has been doing anything creative and inventive to help cope with the challenges of self-isolation, we’d love to hear about it with a description, photo or short video, or
  • Any other interesting, funny, or thoughtful ‘good news’ items about our students and community –let’s uplift one another!

Please send in any items that might be appropriate for our morning announcements to  And as always, we want to continue to identify students of good character with a Royal Roar.  Has your child done something worth sharing during this time of social distancing and quarantine?  Do you have something to share about your child’s good character?  Please continue to submit Royal Roars to and feel free to attach photograph of your child (or the product of their good character) for us to share.

Needless to say, we hope all our families are well during these challenging times.  We recognize the fundamental importance of well-being, and we remind our community of the availability of resources linked on the YRDSB website including Tips for Speaking with Your Child About COVID-19 and How to Support Mental Health During COVID-19.  If your or your family need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
