We will be having a school-wide Fall Dance this Friday, November 8th featuring Bounce Entertainment. There is no cost to attend the dance, though we are asking students to bring in non-perishable (mainly food) items to support a local holiday assistance program. Started by local churches thirty years ago, the program provides a measure of support to Thornhill residents on the basis of need and without consideration of religious belief or practice. This program gives assistance to local residents specifically, so your donation will be helping someone in our own greater community.
Among the items appropriate to donate include any unopened (a) canned food items such as meat, fish, soups, fruit, vegetables, juices, pasta sauces, etc., (b) dry items such as cereals hot & cold, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, biscuits, crackers, cookies, cake mixes, pancake mixes, soup mixes, pudding and jello powders, etc., (c) toiletry items such as hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, disposable shavers, hair shampoos, paper hand towels, hair creams, cosmetics, etc., (d) Kraft dinners and all types of pasta, (e) glass items such as pickles, sauces, jams, relishes, salad dressings, etc., and (f) baby diapers and formula.
We will collect items during the first week of November and throughout the remainder of the month; items can be sent to school with your child or dropped off in the school foyer, at your convenience.
Together we can work to help local families in need!
