International and Indigenous Languages Program 2019-2020

Did you know that the International and Indigenous Languages (IIL) Program provides children with the opportunity to read, write and speak a new language or maintain heritage language and culture and has over 20 languages to choose from?  IIL Program Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on Thursday, April 11, 2019.  To facilitate registration on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 4:00 pm, online registration will be available for the first time through Edsby on YRDSB’s International and Indigenous Languages page.

Currently there are approximately 15,000 students registered in International and Indigenous Languages programs across the Board.  Students from SK to Grade 8 are eligible to take language classes that run once a week during weekday evenings (from Tuesday to Friday) or Saturday mornings for two and a half hours. There are many new and exciting things in store for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year, such as the opportunity to learn the Indigenous languages Ojibwe and Cree.  For a list of all language offerings and locations please see the flyer.  For additional details visit the International and Indigenous Languages page.

Please note that due to space limitations, registration applications will take place on a first-come-first-serve basis. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrolment or lack of teacher availability.
