What’s New at BGPS

PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

Dear Parents/Guardians,

At Bayview Glen Public School, we are proud to work together with our staff, students, School Council and the school community to provide an engaging and dynamic learning experience that focuses on student achievement and well-being.

We have an outstanding team of professionals who continue to work in a variety of academic and co-curricular areas in order to support the needs of each student at Bayview Glen PS.  We believe that as educators, we provide a learning atmosphere that is supportive, respectful, and inclusive, meeting the needs of all students. Developing the qualities of good character is one of our important goals.

At Bayview Glen PS we are also fortunate to have a supportive School Council that works together with all stakeholders to enrich the lives of all of our students.  Our Council is based upon the belief that school is a place for the community to come together to support student success and well-being. The School Council is always in need of volunteers, and welcomes anyone to attend monthly meetings.

We will continue to strive to build a solid academic foundation for all students and continue to foster an environment that is healthy, safe and supportive.

Our main communication tool is our school Blog , please go to  www.bayviewglenps.com, and sign on for email alerts which will be full of important school information.

TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Town Hall Meeting:  All students received a postcard recently with information of the upcoming Town hall events.

York Region District School Board is revisioning its Multi-Year Plan (MYP) and Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-being (BIPSA). The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the strategic direction of public education in York Region public schools. The MYP incorporates the direction established by the Trustees with feedback received from all stakeholders, and will inform decision-making at the Board in the years to come. Schools are places where our students, families, staff and community members come together.

We encourage you to attend any of the meetings, if interested please register at the following link  http://www.yrdsb.ca/myp

Each school is also creating a school team, including an administrator, a staff member, a parent, and a community member to participate in one of our upcoming town halls taking place across the region to provide input into the creation of a new MYP.  If you are interested in being part of this team please contact robin.cockburn@yrdsb.ca This strategic plan will define the Board’s priorities. When we take those priorities and turn them into actions with BIPSA, our schools and the community you support play an important role in putting these strategies into action. Your input and opinions matter.
